Cine Club Basanti Devi College

We are going to start shortly Cine Club Basanti Devi College from 5th June 2012. 5th June is World Environment Day. We want to spread environmental awareness among our students, all members of the college and above all in the society.


SPARSH-A short film in Bengali (duration 56:34) directed by Bhaskar Chaudhury will be shown at 4 PM in the Conference Room. All members of the college present or past are cordially invited.






College Library will coordinate Cine Club Basanti Devi College. It will organise Classical movies of any language of any country of any decade, shortfilm/documentaries, educational movies regularly. Library is developing its movies collection.

 All students,teachers, staff members are requested to help to develop this collection for the future generation of the society. Please contact the librarian.

We have launched e-Library. This is the first college library under the University of Calcutta,first in West Bengal and one among the first 300 colleges in India who has received this UGC-INFLIBNET Connectivity.It has been launched on 25th March 2010.In the first phase it will be accessed by the faculties and in the next phase students will also be able to access it. 


       'Earn-While-You-Learn Scheme'

Basanti Devi College has introduced 'Earn-While-You-Learn' Scheme in the College Library from the academic Session 2010-2011.

 Library Cards for First Year Students


All First year students  (both Honours & Pass) are asked to bring 4 stamp size color photographs and contact the Librarian to collect their Library cards  from 18 th July 2012 onwards.

Both Honours/Pass students will have the access to BCL (British Council Library ) Card and AL (American Library) Card . We are the institutional member of these two very reputed libraries in Kolkata. Students will be able to issue Books/Journals/educational CD/DVD from theses libraries. For BCL and AL Cards students are asked to contact the Librarian.

Interested students are asked to contact the Librarian to become the member of e-Library.

All students are advised to follow the Library Rules


Basanti Devi College has launched very recently Women's Studies Centre with the financial grants received from the UGC, Govt. of India. From 2010-11 session Women's study will be offered as a new  pass subject in the undergraduate programs.
